RICKY
GIBSON
A
native of North Carolina, Ricky Gibson grew up playing gospel,
bluegrass and country music. He taught himself to play the
guitar at the age of 12 and soon afterward taught himself
to play the mandolin using a book and a record, and also
to play the bass fiddle. At age 14, Ricky started performing
at local nursing homes and churches with his family and
he knew back then that he wanted to be an entertainer.
Now, Ricky enjoys playing live shows on weekends to all
types of audiences. Fans will say after seeing a show by
Ricky, they are impressed with his instrumental talent as
well as versatility of his vocal abilities. Performances
of western music also make many fans feel they have stepped
back in time hearing the yodeling and soothing songs from
the past. Ricky says it is not the size of the audience
that matters, but his joy comes from giving his best at
each performance.
Ricky has written multiple songs and has put them to music
and offers them on a CD project entitled “Originals”
by Ricky Gibson. Songwriting comes natural for him in the
country and gospel categories. This CD project and others
by Ricky are played on a local country music station, WBRF
98.1 FM. And listeners call in frequently to request his
original songs and their favorites performed by Ricky.
Ricky currently performs live shows on weekends at local
restaurants and does private bookings for The Red Hat Ladies
Society, church events, private parties, fundraisers, and
other events.
