Jordyn Shellhart
Jordyn Shellhart isn't your average teenager. The sixteen year old singer/songwriter moved to Nashville to pursue a music career at the age of ten with her mother and older brother. After honing her writing skills for a few years in Music City, Jordyn was introduced to manager Rick Barker. Rick who was Taylor Swift's former manager and was still living in California at the time instructed Jordyn to record three songs she had written with just her and a guitar and to put them up on myspace so he could see them. Impressed with what he saw he then made one phone call to Brad Paisley's publishing company, SeaGayle Music. She played three of her own songs for songwriting heavyweights Frank Rogers and Chris Dubois. SeaGayle offered her a publishing deal on the spot, the day after her 14th birthday. Shortly thereafter, she was offered a recording contract with Sony Music Nashville. But despite her early success as a musician, Jordyn remained adamant about one thing - she would stay in school. Since then, Jordyn has mastered the balancing act of school and music. An honor student and professional songwriter, she goes to Centennial High School during the day, and writes with some of the be st songwriters in the world after school. Now at 16-years-old, Jordyn has crafted an album with the kind of artistry and professionalism that usually comes after years of experience.
Jordyn's debut album, In A Room, followed a series of summer performances in association with Best Buy's at15.com foundation. After being introduced to Best Buy's musical instrument program, Jordyn not only wanted to record an album, but she wanted to show other aspiring artists that while having the luxuries of an expensive studio is nice, it is not always necessary. Everything used to record In A Room is available at any Best Buy musical instrument location. To take it one step further, the CD was recorded "in a room" at her manager's office in Nashville.
Many of Jordyn's songs show that she is just as much a love-inspired teenager as the next girl her age, while some tunes portray a deep, strong side to a young woman whose emotional maturity is well beyond her years. For now, Jordyn is soaking in every moment while mastering the art of living a double life of a sophomore in high school and a full-fledged recording artist.
